• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

yeah, they're pretty much unenforceable on wifi. ignore what I said there.

and faster encore. or something slower with a priotity move and an attack that gets it into range for KO with priority move. that set is "rightfully" countered in the sense of risk-free kill by just about anything with water absorb and decent attacking stats, CMbliss; tyranitar or abomasnow can...

it might actually be better to just have the banlist as a recommendation instead of being universal, and only forced on gyms and official tournaments or something. as the testing, even if everyone who's ever made more than three posts in this forum were willing to help, we'd have a small enough...

iirtrc*, it's the leader can make restrictions within reason, but the league's restrictions apply globally. *if I read the rules correctly.

rotom-a is banned because it can't be brought on wifi without manipulation. I imagine it would be fine on shoddy or something. (the other two I guess could be kept on the list anyway?)

it suffers from 4-move-slot syndrome, though. it can do either, but not both. rain/rest/surf/beam is vulnerable to tricking a scarf or something, too. ED: and you forgot politoed. :P

what makes manaphy's situation significantly different from garchomp's? it has instantaneous +2, reasonably good coverage, and not much else; or suffers 4mss. also: zapdos does not wall +6 quick attack that well.

u-turn is too slow. that said, you need +6 to 2hko infernape, means infernape is a decent counter. of all thing.

does that punch require two hits, or three? because if it's two, it can't just switch in, you know? still, how do you get +3 and CB at the same time?

enough stuff counters scizor, including heatran, which resists anything not names superower, outspeeds, and ohkos. (not that anyone's going to leave scizor in.) anything not 2hko'd by bullet punch, faster than scizor, and can use a fire move, really. hell, even infernape, however fragile it may...

modest glaceon outspeeds max+ garchomp, and ohkos even yachechomp unless it's been investing heavily, so. it can also probably destroy the countercounter. but that line of argument is probably invalid.

skill link standard utility cloyster 2hkos with icicle spear, while requiring at least two +2 outrages or stone edges to kill, effectively a 3hko, with its lowest-def common set. scarf glaceon safely switches into +0 outrage, or, with minimal defense investment, +0 stone edge, outspeeds, and...

speaking of scizor... I feel scizor overcentralizes the metagame. it makes me feel that any team I use that isn't liberally sprinkled with fire-type moves is inadequate. and occas swords dance scizor is probably every bit as dangerous as garchomp, with the Same Great Base Attack, and...

in battle tower, where stealth rock use isn't rampant, focus sash is probably better, actually, unless you're running into item clause. ice shard is not really an epic fail, though. it's great for revenge killing a scizor after a weak hp fire or something, actually.

and the problem arises when garchomp runs yache. that said, I'd love to see garchomp unbanned. yache berry isn't much of a problem when you can run multiple ice moves anyway.

it was, iirc, specifically a yache berry swords dance set that was problematic, destroying just about anything not named skarmory or bronzong, and frying those with fire blast. scarf glaceon is one of the best counters you'll find to it, with OHKO ice beam through yache, iirc, but it's not...

the rotoms are due to inability to be brought on wifi; otherwise, rotom-a is basically a staple of OU. and no apology necessary.

felt there was a need. my proposed changes: strike = remove, bold = include. the special forms can't be brought on wifi anyway, and platinum's been out for a while now. and, since this is discussion thread, yeah. might liven up this forum.
